IN PERSON EXPERIENCES

Savour your craft chocolate experience

Whatever the reason for getting together, a fine chocolate tasting offers a delicious, memorable, and truly unique experience to share.

Take a journey across the world of fine chocolate—discovering new flavours, origins, and makers along the way. It’s a wonderful way to celebrate a special occasion or show the foodie or chocolate lover in your life just how well you know them. It might just be the perfect gift!

You can join one of my public tasting events, gather a group and visit my venue in Louth, or I can bring the tasting experience to your home or local venue.

If you are looking for individual private tuition in chocolate tasting, then please contact me.

Book a Fine Chocolate Discovery Experience

If you’re new to fine chocolate, a Cocoa Encounters Discovery Experience is the perfect place to begin. You’ll enjoy a guided tasting of white, milk, dark, and flavoured chocolates from a variety of makers and cacao-growing regions—carefully selected to showcase the incredible complexity and diversity of fine chocolate.

With seven different chocolates to explore, you’re almost guaranteed to discover some new favourites.

As we savour each piece, you’ll learn the art of sensorial tasting, how to see through the marketing myths of mass-market chocolate, and even how to talk like a true chocolate taster.

A Discovery Experience typically lasts around 90 minutes.

Deep dive curated chocolate tastings

DEEP DIVE

Explore with a deep-dive tasting

If you already know your craft chocolate and want to explore a particular origin, style, or maker in more depth, I can create a bespoke deep-dive tasting exclusively for your group.

Perhaps there’s a theme you’d like to explore—such as the role of women in chocolate, the ethics of cacao, or a seasonal celebration. These themed tastings can be as informative as they are delicious.

Pairing sessions are another exciting way to expand your understanding of chocolate’s flavour potential. Whether you enjoy wine, whisky, tea, or cheese, we can pair fine chocolate with other exceptional foods or drinks to reveal surprising new dimensions.

A deep-dive tasting typically lasts around 90 minutes. Prices for Deep Dives are available on request.

MORE ABOUT YOUR DISCOVERY EXPERIENCE

Get to know your beans

After a tasting of roasted cocoa beans, a Discovery Experience gives you the opportunity to savour chocolate from fine cacao farms in Central and South America, Africa and Asia.

Chosen to highlight the craftsmanship of our UK makers, all the chocolate you taste is crafted in small batches here in the UK. We will be dispelling the myth of percentage being an indicator of quality as we move from white chocolate through to dark.

For deep-dive tastings, we have the whole library of styles, origins and makers to choose from.

Choose your group and venues

You can experience your discovery or deep-dive tasting at home, at a local venue or you can come to Cocoa Encounters and experience the charm of the Arthur Montague Suite tasting room in the centre of Louth.

You can choose a private tasting for up to 8 people with numbers limited by venue only. There is no minimum number but the price will be based on the number of participants.

Still need some answers?

Frequently asked questions

Please choose FAQs from the Flexi Options at the bottom of this page.
Do you do vegan tastings?

All dark chocolate in the tastings are vegan and for discovery events, white and milk chocolate alternatives are available. For curated deep-dive events, I ask that the whole group has the same chocolate.

How far do you travel?

I will travel throughout Lincolnshire or a reasonable travelling distance outside Lincolnshire but please email me to check and there will be a small travel cost for longer journeys.

Do you do any day of the week and any time of the day?

Yes, I can do weekdays or weekends depending on availability.

Is an experience suitable for a hen or stag party?

Absolutely, a shared fun experience like a chocolate tasting may be exactly what you are looking for.

Can we include alcohol in a discovery tasting?

It is totally up to you if you want to combine chocolate with alcohol. If you just want to allow participants to have a drink during the tasting, I can recommend the best wines or spirits to accompany the tastings.

This keeps the chocolate at the centre but there is no harm in adding a few bubbles or some good wine to the occasion. This is up to you.

Is it just bars or do you do filled chocolates?

You will just be tasting bars at the Discovery Events but for deep-dive tastings filled chocolates that are made with fine or craft chocolate are an option.

How much notice do you need to make a booking?

The more notice the better but if you have an urgent request just email me to check availability.

How accessible is your venue at the Mart?

The Arthur Montague Suite tasting space is situated on the second floor of a Victorian Building which is only accessible via the stairs, so this may not be a suitable option for some groups.

If we decide to do a tasting at home, what do we need to provide?

If you do a tasting at home all you need is a table or tables to sit at and enough chairs. I will bring everything else.

Do you sell chocolate?

I am an independent chocolate educator not a chocolate retailer and therefore don’t have stocks of chocolate to sell you and will not be trying to get you to buy chocolate.

I will however let you know you can buy the chocolates you are tasting but there is no obligation.

However, I usually have a few extras with me and if you have a group who you know will want to purchase bars, we can discuss this and I will bring some bars along.
